Let’s take PC or Mac as an example.  At first glance it might feel interesting, but only in an academic way, ‘Hhhmm, I didn’t know Excel could do that?’  I’ve been in many situations in my career, however, where Excel files have behaved differently on Mac vs. PC – with serious consequences for client projects!

The =INFO formula would have really helped me then.  In the same way, the =INFO formula can tell which version of Excel you’re working on.  Need to know if your model should use =XLOOKUP (not available in Excel 2019) or =INDEX / =MATCH?  With this formula, you can programme Excel to choose the best option according to the version of Excel being used.  Cool!

The formula can also tell you the file path, whether you’re in automatic or manual calculation mode, and, bizarrely perhaps, the address of the top-left cell currently displayed on the interface.

Were you aware of the =INFO formula, and what applications can you see for it in your work?  Let me know in the YouTube comments!
