So, the question is: how to do that? How to think more strategically? How to understand what organisations actually do? And how Excel might fit in …? These are tricky questions, so how can we achieve this shift in mindset?

Well, there’s no doubt that experience plays a part. I’ve worked on hundreds of Excel development projects and working in different situations helps hugely. I got a headstart, however, because I learned about Problem Structuring Methods early in my career – and they have since play an integral role in shaping my approach to business consultancy.

In this session, I’ll introduce you to 4-5 problem structuring approaches that will help you as an Excel analyst. As we’ll see, they fall into two broad categories – tactical and strategic. I find both of them fun - and a welcome release from formulae, VBA and the like. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them too – welcome back to 30 Day Excel Analyst!
